Most of us are familiar with TripAdvisor – arguably the most respected travel review site in the world. So what does a company with such power do? Launches a new site that can collate all this experience and know-how into profit.
The name of this new business? Tingo
Tingo has a very simple value proposition: to automatically refund you the difference on your hotel booking if the price drops after purchase.
Their main “hook point” appears to be that this is automatic – they will email you when a price drops below what you paid and refunds the value to your credit card a few days later.
Sound good? It sure does to me!
The fact you get all user photo’s and reviews seamlessly integrated from TripAdvisor is just the icing on the cake.
The downside? It appears Tingo is currently only available in the US.
Assuming this is successful we could well be seeing this arrive in the UK and across Europe in the not too distant future.
As cringe-worthy as it is, and stealing a once famous tag line, we could be hearing the phrase “You’ve been Tingo’d” sooner than you think.
